New Printer

my new printer

When I was trying to print out some bills three days ago to send my customers after having made them with EXCEL, my printer didn't work! What a shitty machine! Actually I bought it 10 years ago or so, I couldn't help but to get a new one as soon as possible, because I had to print out not only the bills but also new year's greeting cards.

After I took some English lessons at NOVA two days ago, I went to an appliance store near the English school, whose name is Yamada Denki, to buy a new printer. I was going to buy a simple functional one at first, but I've gotten a high-spec machine against my will. (^_^; Because that one was so cheaper than I had expected in spite of high capabilities. It can work as not only a printer for computers but also a color copy machine. Besides, it can print out photographs from SD cards independently, I mean, without turning my PC on. Plus, I got a bunch of free photo paper then. I must have made a great buy! :D Actually, one of the lessons I took at NOVA before I bought the printer was how to negotiate in English when buying something. What a coincidence! (^^)

Hi jd,

Same to you!

Today, I'll try this page (*^_^*)

I also am using my printer for a long time.
”It can work as not only a printer for computers but also a color copy machine. Besides, it can print out photographs from SD cards independently”

Well, it is amazing, isn't it?
Maybe I need to learn more before mine breaks.

As for electric gadget, I really want to DVD player in the kitchen right now so that I can watch dramas in English which I recorded in DVD-disks form the plaryer in the living room.
I wished Santa for it, though (^^

I forgot to write that my new one can work as an image scanner as well. :D
I'd love to watch such kind of DVDs because many teachers recommend that as a good way to study English. However, unfortunately I don't have the time to do that. (ToT)

you know, recently i introduce my flatmate to wireless internet and wireless printing, i have to admit it took a while for them to grasp what it is.. it's kinda hard since the whole concept of wi-fi is invisible and untouchable and even harder cause I don't speak 大阪弁 and they don't speak 英語.

Anyway, seems both my flatmates are really happy! we gotten rid of all the damn network cables and everyone can share one printer, go online.. and send one another files!!

I don't mind of course. I know it's quite difficult for non-Japanese to memorize Japanese names correctly.
Yeah, as you say, tons of cables often bother me actually. I guess almost all communication wires will disappear sometime, but we might have to worry about the security instead.

Security's not a real issue, so long as you setup a network passwords using a non-dictionary words or combine multi-bit words, such as 漢字 with special symbols, it's safer than alpha-numerical characters...

Also, you can setup your router/switch/portal to allow certain Mac-address only (unique code for each ethernet card), this prevents non-listed Mac-address from joining your network, even if they've hacked in - cause unless their Mac-address is listed, the router will reject authentication. It's really cool!!

you just have to make sure your router supports this feature, i'm using a Apple Airport Extreme; it's a little expensive compared to 3rd party but it has everything you need and more! Works with both mac abd pc!

仕方ないですよ。日本人の名前は難しいから。(^_^;

Sounds great. Since I used to be a computer system engineer, the word "MAC" reminds me of my old memories actually. It stands for Media Access Control, if my memory serves me right.
